The World Environment Day message was presented as part of a series of events at JUSCO centering on climate change and its role in realizing sustainable development.
The event began with an e- pledge wherein the officials of the company to an oath to support Tata’s aspirations of combating Climate Change followed by “Tree Plantation drive” at various locations of Jamshedpur. The areas covered were Bhetia Park, Kadma, Jogger’s Park, Golmuri Park, Baridih, Bara Workers / Supervisor Flat Complex, Batching Plant, Tube Division including its Power Sub Station at Seraikela - Kharsawan.
Mr. Sanjiv Paul, Managing Director, JUSCO flagged off the tree plantation drive and planted saplings at Jubilee Park as the Chief Guest for the occasion. In addition, posters with the message “Combat Climate Change” were distributed at various locations spreading the awareness of promoting low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly consumption.
More than 400 saplings were planted in Jamshedpur and Seraikela - Kharsawan to mark the occasion and promote bio-diversity.
This massive campaign was also driven across the company at other operational sites such as Haldia and Kolkata. In the last five years, JUSCO has planted nearly 17,402 trees in Jamshedpur to address the problem of climate change and maintain ecological balance.
The function was well attended and people took active participation in the drive to protect the planet earth.
