A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bagan Area Vikas Samiti and JUSCO for providing civic and allied services to the residents of Bagan area on June 18, 2010 at JUSCO Conference Hall. Prof. R N Singh, President, Bagan Area Vikas Samiti signed on behalf of the Samiti whereas from JUSCO, Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, JUSCO did the honour. Present during the occasion was Mr Raghunath Pandey, President of Tata Workers’ Union, Mr V D Gopal Krishna, Working President, Jusco Shramik Union, Office bearers of TWU & JSU, Sr. Executives of JUSCO and representatives from BAVS.
The major attributes which formed the basis of the MoU for the year 2010-11 included provision of piped drinking water supply & power connections, tree plantation, new parks, street lights, treatment of mosquito breeding points, garbage collection on PPP model, carpeting & repairing of roads, multimode payment of utility bill.
Since its inception, JUSCO has relentlessly worked towards providing quality services to people residing in these areas. The objective was to uplift the standard of living and increase the economic activities of people residing in these areas. Some of the past initiatives completed through this MoU are construction of Birsanagar Bridge, Baridih Community Centre, Library at LIC colony Sonari, Power supply to 5-pocket areas, Rain water harvesting system at Sarnath Pond and the most recent development is the piped drinking water supply under the unique ‘Citizen-JUSCO’ partnership model.
In the last year, JUSCO has provided approx. 5000 new water connections, planted 500 trees, installed 9 new street lights, carpeting & repairing of 19 roads, work started in 2 new parks. This year MoU includes a new parameter on power connections and PPP model for garbage collection.
Representatives of Bagan Area highly appreciated the efforts of JUSCO and praised the good work done in the past. JUSCO’s commitment towards the MoU will definitely bring about a change in the lifestyle of people and will lead to a better and beautiful Jamshedpur.
