Tata Steel – The 100 year old steel company that ushered in the industrial revolution in India, owes its existence and achievements to its Founder – Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and the guiding philosophies laid down by him. This great and unparalleled visionary who sowed the seeds of industrialisation in India, will be remembered on his 169th birth anniversary on 3rd March, 2008. Like previous years, Tata Steel will be celebrating the birth anniversary of J N Tata amidst fanfare and enthusiasm. As a tribute to this great legend, all Divisions of Tata Steel and Tata Group Companies will be commemorating this special day in their own characteristic manner. The detail programme of the celebrations is given below:-

Illumination at Jubilee Park: Mr. Ishaat Hussain will inaugurate the illumination at the Founder's statue in Jubilee Park at 6.30 pm on 2nd March, 2008. It will be open for public viewing from 3rd March till 7th March’08 (Timing – 6pm to 10pm – No Vehicles will be allowed inside during this period).
The entry of vehicle in Jubilee Park would be restricted and redirected from early morning of 2nd March 2008 till 10.00 pm. From 3rd to 7th March 2008 entry of vehicle in Jubilee Park would be restricted from 3.30 pm to 10.00 pm.
Exhibition: A special exhibition as part of the Founder's Day Celebration is being organised. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Mr. Philippe Varin at Jubilee Park (next to children's park) on 2nd March'08 at 6.45 p.m. The exhibition will be open for all visitors from 3rd March to 7th March'08 from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm.

Founder’s Day Celebration inside the Works: Founder’s Day Procession will begin from the statue near the Works Main gate at 7.00 am. Homage will be paid to the legendary visionary and Founder – J N Tata by all the dignitaries present.
Founders Day Pageantry in the Town: A colourful pageantry will be organised with participation and support of the citizens of Jamshedpur and local administration. This pageantry will be flagged off by Mr. B Muthuraman, Managing Director – Tata Steel in front of the Founders bust near Bistupur Food Plaza at 9.00 am. The pageantry will include floats from Associate Companies, social organisations, RAF and JAP.
Floats from the various Divisions of Tata Steel will be parked at Ganesh Puja Maidan, Kadma for public viewing from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Centre for Excellence – Mr. B Muthuraman will inaugurate the Jamshedpur Gallery at Centre for Excellence at 11.00 am on March 3, 2008.
Sports - This will be followed by JRD Tata Youth (U-19) Invitational Football Tournament at JRD Sports Complex at 12.30 pm. In addition to this, various sporting events will be organised at the Gopal Maidan, 2:00 pm onwards. The Prize distribution for the winners of different sports will start at 3.45 pm.
Laser Fountain and Musical Fountain Show: Like last year, this year as well, there will be four shows of the Laser show and Musical Fountain from 2nd March’08 to 7th March’08 on usual charges. Show timing are as follows - 1st Show – 6:30 pm, 2nd Show – 7:30 pm, 3rd Show – 8:30 pm, 4th Show – 9:30 pm.
Zoo: There will be free entry at Zoo for public on the occasion of Founder’s Day.
Barricades – Following traffic points will be temporarily barricaded on 3rd March 2008 from 8.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.
