Serious Adoption Award |
For
an organisation, which began on a quiet note as a bold
experiment to privatise public utility services, the
high decibel level of praise JUSCO has received for
business excellence is a trail blazer for even those
firmly entrenched in their businesses. JUSCO has
leveraged the opportunity of a new start to rapidly set
in place Business Excellence Processes under the Tata
Business Excellence Model. As a result, the Company has
within two years of its birth, received the Group’s
“Serious Adoption Award” in business excellence. The
honour was bestowed on it by the Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata
at the 11th Business Excellence Convention organised by
TQMS at Phuket, Thailand on November 24 and 25. This
moment was undoubtedly the proudest in the young life of
the Company.
Equally thrilling was the
commendation, which was read out while the award was
being presented. It was announced that despite its
relative youth, the Company was running faster than many
on the path of excellence.
JUSCO, a Tata Enterprise is the only
private civic services provider of the country to be
certified under Environment Management System of ISO
14001.

services through corporatisation.” This award honored
the company for the world-class services provided by it
to the residents of Jamshedpur in the areas such as
water-supply, waste management and other allied
services.
“JUSCO perhaps is the only initiative of its kind in the
entire country, which shows that urban services should
not be treated merely as a responsibility but as a
properly managed commercial activity. This initiative
can prove to be a landmark in the area of urban
development in India and makes JUSCO a suitable
candidate for the CRISIL Award,” observed a member of
CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory.
The visit of delegates from Pakistan
and Bangladesh at the behest of the World Bank was a

countries of the operations of JUSCO, which the World
Bank rates as a well managed service organisation. The
