Over the past several years, the idea of the being "Smart" has emerged as a key mechanism for cities to find sustainable and innovative solutions to the challenges that they are facing. These solutions are developed through sustained environmental intervention combined with full use of the possibilities the digitalization of the society has given us. This means enabling the technology to gather data, which can be used by the technology itself in order to adapt to the most sustainable and smart behaviour.

The Asian Smart Cities Awards 2017 recognized pioneering projects designed to make cities more liveable, sustainable and economically viable. Businesses, entrepreneurs, research hubs, non-governmental organizations and public or private consortiums pitch their innovative smart city strategies and solutions to transform our cities in the field of technology, energy, governance, sustainability and mobility.

Applicants were invited with impressive projects that use new innovative technology to engage citizens, increase efficiency, empower sustainability, generate business and improve quality of life. On 2nd August 2017, CMO Asia organized its 8th edition of CMO Asia Smart Cities Awards 2017 in Sentosa, Singapore. JUSCO won the awards for "Best City for Integrated Planning" and "Best Smart City Initiative". The awards were received by Capt. Dhananjay Mishra, Sr. General Manager (Jamshedpur Town Operations) and Mr Ayan Lahiri, Executive Officer to MD,JUSCO.

JUSCO has always been a pioneer in the field of developing integrated smart-city solutions. Various initiatives which helped JUSCO bag these awards are:

» 6 Awards to JUSCO at the 11th Global Communication Conclave of PRCI
 

With focus on Disruption, premier communicators' organization Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) held its 11th Global Communication Conclave on March 3, 4 and 5, 2017 at Bengaluru. PRCI, the pan-India platform of PR, Media, Advertising, HR professionals and academicians, experts over 500 delegates from across these fields participate in this interactive Conclave.

PRCI has successfully organised its previous Global Communication Conclaves at Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Headquartered at Bengaluru, PRCI has its chapters pan- India and began to spread its foot print globally by opening its first international chapter in UAE and several other global centres are in the pipeline. PRCI recognises people who have excelled in their own field and contributed for social justice and who have bought name for the country in the last.

Continuing its tradition, PRCI presented its signature Chanakya Awards to recognize the outstanding contributions in Corporate Services and Communication and felicitated winners of Corporate Collateral Awards under a host of categories.

Sri Priyank M Kharge - Honorable Minister for Tourism, Govt of Karnataka awarded Sukanya Das with the Prestigious Chanakya Award. The rest of the Collateral Awards were given by Sri H Anjaneya, Honorable Minister for Social Welfare and Backward classes, Govt of Karnataka. JUSCO was conferred with 3 Gold Awards for Diary (Small), Calendar (Small) and Radio Campaign , 1 Bronze - Start up idea of the year , 1 Appreciation Award for Corporate Event. Total entries received were from 86 companies Private n Govt n PSU etc like IDBI, Indian Oil Corporation, Godrej, Concept PR, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, South Central Railways, BEML – Bangalore, This Week Group, JUSCO etc.

JUSCO has been conferred with the "BEST RENEWABLE RESOURCES" award for achieving "WATER STEWARDSHIP & HOLISTIC MANAGEMENT" at the prestigious 7th CMO Asia award ceremony held at Pan Pacific, Singapore held on 5th August 2016. Asia’s Best organisations were declared at the 7th CMO Asia Awards for Excellence sustainable growth in presence of leading service providers, managers and innovators from across Asia. This Award recognises organisations that pioneer in Sustainable and economically best practises in Asia and JUSCO was awarded in the light of the experience and expertise in water management for over 100 years along with the effort for minimal wastage and maximum recycle and reuse.

 
» JUSCO wins CII Eastern Region Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Excellence Award 2015-16
 

JUSCO was conferred with CII Eastern Region Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Excellence Award 2015-16 under Large Scale Services Category on 8 September 2016 at Hotel ITC Sonar Bangla, Kolkata. Mr Arnab Roy, Principal Secretary, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Government of West Bengal handed over the Trophy and a Certificate to Team JUSCO. Mr Deepak Kamath, Sr GM (Support Services), Mr Satyaraj Rath, Chief DM (Safety), Mr Niraj Singh, Chief DM (ICS), Mr Satyajit Chakraborty, Water Management, Mr Ritesh Gupta, Power Services Division and Mr Vishal received the award on behalf of Team JUSCO. Other dignitaries present during the award ceremony were Mr Phillip Turner, Group Head Safety & Occupational Health, Vedanta Plc,,Mr Rahul Guha, Director General, Directorate General of Mines Safety, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Mr Sandeep Fuller, Chairman, Safety Taskforce of CII Eastern Region and Mr Vilas Gaikwad, Chairman, Safety Taskforce, CII Eastern Region and Chief Safety, Tata Steel Limited, India and SEA.

The CII Eastern Region SHE Awards seek to recognize excellence in several areas including safety, health & environment, – all of which contribute to enhance company’s competitiveness in the domestic and international market. The CII SHE Awards have been instituted to recognize extraordinary contribution in the areas of best environment & safety management practices, contribution towards sustainable development and efficient handling of occupational health and safety issues.

A total of 40 participants applied for this prestigious award including BALCO, Sterallite Industries, LAFARGE, MIPRO, ITC, TRL, Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., etc

» JUSCO bags Smart Cities India Award, 2016 for "Smart Water Projects"
 

JUSCO was conferred with the Smart Water Project Awards, for achieving significant excellence in providing safe and clean drinking water to the city of Jamshedpur, at the Smart Cities India Expo, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 13th May 2016.

This award, organized by Exhibitions India Group, recognizes pioneering projects that aim to make cities more liveable, sustainable and economically viable by honouring best practices and models in the smart cities concept. The objective of the award is to foster the development of future cities enhancing quality of life, innovation, competitiveness and efficient management.

Ms. Deeya Ray and Mr. Arijit Chakraborty received the award on behalf of JUSCO from Mr Prem Bhel, Chairman, Exhibitions India Group.

Significantly, JUSCO after being evaluated on stringent criteria with many companies across the nation for the Prestigious Smart City India Award emerged as the winner.

 
» JUSCO receives an award for Good Practice under Procurement Practices at Tata Affirmative Action Programme Recognition held at Mumbai
 

JUSCO has won Good Practice Award for Procurement Practices at the Tata Affirmative Action Convention held on May 6, 2016 at Mumbai. The award was given for developing and embedding SC/ ST vendors into the value chain system of JUSCO's Procurement Department and providing them platform and opportunity to grow.

The award was given away by Mr Vijay Singh, Director, Tata Sons at a glittering function held at Mumbai. Mr Ashish Mathur, Managing Director, JUSCO along with Mr D S Prasad, DGM Procurement, Ms Preeti Sehgal, Chief CSR and Company Secretary and Ms Sushmita Ghosh, Corporate Quality Head received the award. A total of 35 Tata Group Companies participated in the Tata Affirmative Action Programme. Last year also JUSCO was recognized for Good Practice under Education Section at Tata Affirmative Action Programme.

JUSCO has institutionalised a procurement process that helps develop vendors belonging to SC/ ST community. In the last two years JUSCO has steadily built up its vendor base and its business transactions value has risen from Rs.29.00 Lakhs in FY' 14 to Rs.2.74 Crore in FY 16 from vendors belonging to SC/ ST community.

» 6th CII National HR Excellence Award 2016 to JUSCO
 

In a glittering function at Hotel Shangrila in New Delhi on February 19, 2016 JUSCO was recognized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for achieving significant excellence in Human Resource during the 6th CII National HR Excellence Award Confluence 2016.

Mr. Deepak P Kamath, Sr. GM (Support Services) & Mr. Raghunath Pandey, President JUSCO Shramik Union received the award on behalf of the Company from Mr. V S Oberoi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Government Of India. Also representing the Company were Mr. Rajiv  Bahadur, DGM (HRIR) & Mr. Subrata Lahiri , Sr.Manager (HR).

It is noteworthy that JUSCO was ranked amongst the top out of the many companies that applied for the prestigious award country wide and its performance was also the best amongst the TATA Group of Companies that participated.

» JUSCO bags 5 Awards at the 10th PRCI Global Communication Conclave 2016
 

Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) is a non- political, organisation of professionals in the field of Public Relations, Corporate Communications, advertising and many other allied services . PRCI has emerged as one of the foremost platforms for PR professionals. The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) held their annual Chanakya Award Ceremony for the national achievers on the two-day inaugural session of the 10th Global Communication Conclave on Friday.

The conclave followed the theme 'Image Crisis: Who is Responsible? & Digital Now - What Next'. Among those present were Sashi Panja, State women and child development and social welfare minister as the chief guest and RPS Kahlon, chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, RK Gupta, Eastern Railway General manager, Swami Jitatmananda Maharaj, vice-president, Ramakrishna Math, Smriti kumar Sarkar, VC, Chancellor, Burdwan University.

» JUSCO awarded at the 3rd Innovation with Impact Award 2015 for Discoms by the Indian Chamber of Commerce
 

JUSCO once again awarded at the 3rd Innovation with Impact Award 2015 for Power Distribution Management Category organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. The award function was held in New Delhi on 5th November 2015 during The 9th India Energy Summit" organized by The Indian Chamber of Commerce. Mr Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO along with Mr Manmohan Singh, DGM (Town Electrical), JUSCO received the award from Shri Major Singh, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Government of India. JUSCO has been awarded by Indian Chamber of Commerce for Innovation with Impact Award for three consecutive years.

The Award has been primarily introduced in order to acknowledge and reward the Power Distribution Companies that have taken new and positive steps to increase its system efficiency and manage the supply - demand situation more effectively. In turn these awards provide a platform to highlight leading examples of innovative and sustainable practices and performance to inspire and motivate others to adopt similar policies and practices and transparently communicate on their performance.

During the closing session a penal discussion was organized with Private Discoms on the topic - The Dicsom Dilemma: Prognosis Vs Reality. Mr Manmohan Singh from JUSCO was one of the panelist along with other major players in the power sector like Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd, IPCL, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, CESC Ltd.

Emerging Brand Award of the Year 2015 to JUSCO at the prestigious 6thCMO Asia Award for Excellence in Branding & Marketing Forum at Singapore

National Award for Meritorious Performance in Power Sector by Ministry of Power, Government of India, to JUSCO for Third Consecutive Year

 

JUSCO bagged Gold Shield Award for Meritorious Performance in Power Sector, instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, for the year 2013-14 for distribution companies. The award was presented by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy, Government of India and received by Mr Ashish Mathur, Managing Director, JUSCO and V P Singh, EIC, Power Services Division, JUSCO, at a function held in New Delhi on June 3, 2015.

A commendable achievement by JUSCO in the power sector where it has been recognized consistently for its performance by the Ministry of Power since 2011. No power distribution company in Jharkhand has achieved this distinction.

National awards to power utilities for meritorious performance have been instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to inculcate competitive spirit and motivation to achieve high levels of performance. JUSCO won the Gold Shield award for outstanding performance of distribution companies for two consecutive years in 2011-12 and 2012-13 and now for 2013-14, making it a hat-trick.

PRCI recognizes JUSCO at the 9th Global Communication Conclave at New Delhi

 

JUSCO was conferred with 04 Awards by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) at their 9th Global Communication Conclave held on 14 March 2015 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The awards were conferred for Table Calendar, Diary (Small), House Journal (External Magazine) and Public Service Campaign (Zimmedaar Nagrik Zimmedaar Shaher).

Mr A P Singh, DGM (Corporate Relations & Corporate Communications) and Ms Sukanya Das, Corporate Communications received the Trophy and Certificates from Mr Bhishma Narain Singh, Former Union Minister and Governor at the Annual Corporate Collateral Awards 2015 function at New Delhi.

ABP News Brand Excellence Award 2014 conferred to JUSCO

 

JUSCO has been conferred with the ABP News Brand Excellence Award 2014 under the Emerging Brand Category. The award was given to JUSCO in the light of the experience and expertise in integrated city management for over 100 years along with the effort for inclusive growth through the citizen's campaign - Zimmedaar Nagrik Zimmedaar Shaher. Ms Sukanya Das and Mr Monojit Guha received the award on behalf of JUSCO at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 14 November 2014. JUSCO once again won the 2nd Innovation with Impact Award 2014 for Power Distribution Management Category organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. The award function was held in New Delhi on 12 November 2014 during The 8th India Energy Summit" organized by The Indian Chamber of Commerce. Mr Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO along with Mr Sharad Kumar, Sr. GM (Power Services Division & Customer Relationship Management) received the award from Smt Neerja Mathur, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority, Government of India.

JUSCO wins Best Practice Award for “Customer Service and Complaint Management in Water Distribution"

 

JUSCO wins Best Practice Award for “Customer Service and Complaint Management in Water Distribution" organized by Indian Utility Knowledge and Networking Forum (IUKAN) held at New Delhi on February 13, 2014 at the 2nd Annual Conference of IUKAN. Mr A P Singh, DGM (Customer Relations & Corporate Communications), JUSCO received the award.

This is yet another achievement of Team JUSCO in the area of Customer Service and Complaint Management. JUSCO has already won the National Award for Customer Service and Complaint Management in 2009 and the award was given away by Her Excellency The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Prathibha Patil at New Delhi. Since then JUSCO has won many awards in the area of Water Distribution, Power Distribution and Infrastructure Management as well.

The IUKAN forum introduced Utility Best Practice Awards aimed to recognize practical and innovative ways employed by utility operators, their business partners and stakeholders to drive improvements in systems and service delivery to end consumers. The Awards intend to bring a paradigm shift in the way a utility looks at its Grounds Team, which is the actual asset and wealth manager for the distribution utility.

Best practice nominations were received from across utility service providers, public and private utilities. Companies who participated include leading public utilities like MSEDCL, BESCOM, DGVCL, Mysore City Corporation, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, PGVCL, UGVCL and private utilities like BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, CESC Limited, NPCL, JUSCO, Enzen, GTL Limited, MVV Water Utility Private Ltd., Tata Power Company Ltd, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, WESCO, Orange City Water.

A total of 72 nominations – were selected based on pre-qualification parameters set by jury across categories of Customer Services and Complaint Management, Metering Effectiveness and Smart Infrastructure, Billing and Collection, Operations, Maintenance and Asset Management, Loss Reduction, Theft Control and Vigilance, People Management and Development, Bid Management and Operations Takeover, Innovations and Others.

The esteemed jury evaluating these nominations were drawn from the IUKAN Advisory and mentors, consisting of Mr. Prabhakar Kukde (Ex Director Tata Power, Ex Technical Director of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board) and Mr. Reji Pillai (President, India Smart Grid Forum) for the power track and Ms. Malini Shankar (Principal Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra) and Mr. Srinivas Chary (Dean Research & Mgmt. Studies at the Administrative Staff College of India) for the water track.

Along with the award function, a Landmark Conference- IUKAN 2014 held on February 13, 2014 at Le Meridien in New Delhi came out to be a very successful event as was expected. The conference witnessed the presence of the top notch of the power supply and water distribution sector. All the speakers focused on the various innovative reforms that had been successfully implemented in the utility sector. The theme of the conference was “Complementing Reforms Bottom-up: Through Improved Operationalization and Engaged Local Ecosystem". The aim of the conference was to help the utility service providers to enlarge their views about improvements in their areas including strategy, policy, contract, services and operations.

As part of the proceedings of the conference, a best practice journal was published, probably the first compendium at national level, which includes 72 best practices shared by power, water and waste water industry players including public and private utility operators and their service providers. These best practices were published in the form of a best practice journal for wider dissemination and adoption in the industry. Accenture supported the wider dissemination of the best practices by partnering with IUKAN as the Best Practices Showcase Partner.

National Award to JUSCO for Outstanding Performance in Power Sector for two consecutive years

 

JUSCO bagged the national meritorious performance award in Power Sector instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India for the year 2011-12 & 2012-13 for Distribution Companies. The award by presented by Sri Jyotiraditya Scidhia, Union Minsiter of State for Power and received by Mr Sharad Kumar, GM (Power Services Division) and Mr V P Singh, DGM (Power Services Division), JUSCO at a function held in New Delhi on 4th February 2014.

It is indeed a commendable performance by JUSCO in the power sector where is has been recognized for its performance for two consecutive years. No distribution company in Jharkahnd has achieved this distinction for two consecutive years.

National Awards to Power Utilities for Meritorious Performance have been instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to inculcate competitive spirit and motivation to achieve high levels of performance.

JUSCO's power performance has always been rated as one of the best in the industry and the same has been endorsed by AC Neilsen, a leading market research company, in their annual Quality of Life and Customer Satisfaction survey, for the last 10 years. Power reliability and availability in Jamshedpur is 99% and is one of the benchmark in the country. The Seraikela-Kharswan District license is one of the unique in the country where two power distribution companies are providing electricity and consumers have the option to choose either from JUSCO or from Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB). Quality Circle team of FMC at the international convention

 

Quality Circle (QC) teams from JUSCO hogged the limelight at different conventions on quality held recently. The QC team from Fleet Management Centre of JUSCO won the Gold at the International Convention on QC Circles (ICQCC) 2013 held at Taipei in Taiwan from October 22 to 25, 2013. A five- member team from Fleet Management Centre competed against 190 teams from across the globe The project was on how to eliminate the problem of Winch Drum Failure on Hydra Cranes. In due course of operation, it was revealed that all of a sudden during lifting /shifting materials, the winch drum starts making screeching sound and stops rotating. The root cause of this was that there was insufficient lubrication to the bearing. JUSCO's FMC QC team, worked out a simple solution of making a hole across the drum body and provided one grease nipple externally which won them the Gold award at Taipei.

JUSCO wins First Impact with Innovation Award 2013

 

JUSCO won the First Impact with Innovation Award 2013 for Power Distribution Management Category organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. The award function was organised in New Delhi on 15 November 2013. Mr Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO along with MrSharad Kumar, GM (Power Services Division), Mr Vijay Prakash Singh, DGM (Power Service Division) and Mr KC Jha Chief (Power Services Division) received the award from Sri Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Governmnt of India who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. A total of 23 Discoms (Distribution Companies) from across the country had applied for the award. Jury for the award comprised of Sri M APathan, Ex. Chairman IOCL, Mr H L Bajaj, Ex. CEA, Ex. Member of Board Nuclear Power Corporation, MrPartha Bhatacharya, CMD, Coal India Limited, Mr CVJ Verma, Mr DK Jain, Member of Board, NTPC, Ms Soma Banerjee, Chief Editor of Economic Times.

 
» National Urban Water Award 2010 for PPP to JUSCO & HDA (Jointly)
 

HDA (Haldia Development Authority) and JUSCO jointly won the prestigious ‘National Urban Water Awards’ under the category of "Public Private Partnership" for the year of 2010. CEO, HDA, Mr. P Ulganathan and CEO, Haldia Water Management Limited, Mr. R K Singh received the award at New Delhi on 13th of December 2011 by the Hon'ble Minister of Urban Development, Government of India, Mr. Kamal Nath on the 6th Anniversary of JNNURM.

JUSCO had already won this award in 2009 under "Citizen Services & Governance" for its initiative towards Customer Satisfaction - JUSCO Sahyog Kendra.

Haldia was a water scarce city and with 3 years of operation by JUSCO, is now a water surplus city with a robust water supply and customer care mechanism. Most of the consumers are delighted with the water quantity, quality and the services provided by JUSCO. The different initiatives taken by Team JUSCO includes NRW reduction , renovation and replacement of equipments, safety enforcement, strengthening of internal systems and procedures, JUSCO Sahyog Kendra, customer satisfaction improvement initiatives, TPM deployment, robust quality assurance process, OHSAS , advanced maintenance practices and training of the contractors employees.

The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, in partnership with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) has instituted the National Urban Water Awards (NUWA) for urban local bodies and water boards to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in urban water management.

JUSCO Samachar (vernacular) was conferred “Gold Award" by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) at their 4th Global Meet held on 3 April 2010 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Global Meet together with Annual PRCI 2010 Chanakya Awards, Corporate Collateral Awards and Hall of Fame in PR was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Advisor to Bureau of Parliamentary Studies on Training and Former Union Minister Sri Mani Shankar Aiyer.

Mr Rajesh Rajan, Head Corporate Communications, JUSCO received the Trophy and a Certificate from Mr Bhishma Narain Singh, Former Union Minister and Governor and Mr Joginder Singh, Former Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at the Annual Corporate Collateral Award function at New Delhi. JUSCO was declared the Winner for "BEST EXHIBITOR of Urban Infrastructure Services" at the 1st International Conference on Solid Waste Management on Nov 6, 2009.

The award was given by Prof Saugata Roy, Hon'ble Minister of State for Urban Development, Govt of India to Mr Rajesh Rajan, Head Corporate Communications JUSCO at the valedictory function.

The Conference on Solid Waste Management and Exhibition on Municipal Services, Urban Development & Public Works is organized by the Centre for Quality Management Systems, Jadavpur University and Good Governance India Foundation.

The renowned companies which participated in the Exhibition are Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Rolta India, Surat Municipal Corporation, Ion Exchange, Sintex, State Urban Development Agency, SPML, Siemens India, Caterpillar and many more.

The Hon’ble Minister of State for Urban Development visited the stall of JUSCO along with other dignitaries and was impressed to discover that the company does not only provide the services in West Bengal but also across the country. He was also pleased to know that JUSCO apart from providing water and waste water services is also offering sustainable solutions in power distribution, MSW and other infrastructure services.

National Urban Water Award 2009At the 2008 Total Plant Maintenance Award ceremony, JUSCO was honored with “Award for TPM Excellence, Category A" by the Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) held at Kyota, Japan on March 12, 2009. JUSCO as a civic provider adopted the TPM model in the year 2004 and ever since implemented the measures to improve equipment’s availability time, performance and reduce gaps in process to reduce losses and customer complaints.

The Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), a public corporation under the administration of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan in association with association française des ingénieurs et responsables de maintenance, Confederation of Indian Industry, Corporate Synergy Development Center, Korean Standards Association, SMMT Industry Forum, Technology Promotion Association facilitated JUSCO along with 20 other Indian companies for their excellent performance.

Mr. Sharad Kumar, General Manager, Power Service Division received the award at the ceremony as the representative of JUSCO. Being the only company in the Utilities services domain, JUSCO’s objective in implementing TPM to increase efficiency and operational performance has led to transform its vision into reality.

Nearly 88 companies from all over the world were facilitated with their assessors and member organizations in various other categories. Amongst the winners for “Category A" were some Indian companies such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited, MRF Limited, PepsiCo India Hoardings Private limited, Exide Industries Limited, National Engineering Industries limited and more. The TPM award is the third international award won by JUSCO within four years of its inception which contributes to its improvement systems and high morale.

JUSCO won the “HR Excellence Award 2008 – 2009" at a ceremony organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (Eastern Region) on March 10, 2009. This certification was awarded in appreciation to promote excellence in Human Resource Management in the company.

The award is organised by the ASIAN WATER Magazine and the ASIA WATER 08 Secretariat. Amongst the past winners include PUB Singapore, Penang Water Supply, Malaysia and Manila Water, Phillipines.

NABL Accreditation to Water LaboratoryThe National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) granted its certificate for accreditation to the Town Laboratory of the Water Management division of Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company on May 23, 2007, for the chemical tests conducted by it. The accreditation is sensitive as it will allow the laboratory to use the NABL symbol in accordance with NABL-133, for the parameters covered by it.

This award honoured the company for the world-class services provided by it to the residents of Jamshedpur in the areas such as water-supply, waste management and other allied services.

“JUSCO perhaps is the only initiative of its kind in the entire country, which shows that urban services should not be treated merely as a responsibility but as a properly managed commercial activity. This initiative can prove to be a landmark in the area of urban development in India and makes JUSCO a suitable candidate for the CRISIL Award," observed a member of CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory.

The visit of delegates from Pakistan and Bangladesh at the behest of the World Bank was a singular honour for India’s foremost private sector Utilities services provider. Under the Water and Sanitation programme of the World body, a visit was organised to apprise the delegates of the neighbouring countries of the operations of JUSCO, which the World Bank rates as a well managed service organisation. The delegates visited the Water Management and Public Health & Horticulture Departments of the Company.
