HDA (Haldia Development Authority) and JUSCO jointly won the prestigious ‘National Urban Water Awards’ under the category of "Public Private Partnership" for the year of 2010. CEO, HDA, Mr. P Ulganathan and CEO, Haldia Water Management Limited, Mr. R K Singh received the award at New Delhi on 13th of December 2011 by the Hon'ble Minister of Urban Development, Government of India, Mr. Kamal Nath on the 6th Anniversary of JNNURM.

JUSCO had already won this award in 2009 under "Citizen Services & Governance" for its initiative towards Customer Satisfaction - JUSCO Sahyog Kendra.
Haldia was a water scarce city and with 3 years of operation by JUSCO, is now a water surplus city with a robust water supply and customer care mechanism. Most of the consumers are delighted with the water quantity, quality and the services provided by JUSCO. The different initiatives taken by Team JUSCO includes NRW reduction , renovation and replacement of equipments, safety enforcement, strengthening of internal systems and procedures, JUSCO Sahyog Kendra, customer satisfaction improvement initiatives, TPM deployment, robust quality assurance process, OHSAS , advanced maintenance practices and training of the contractors employees.
The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, in partnership with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) has instituted the National Urban Water Awards (NUWA) for urban local bodies and water boards to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in urban water management.

Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO) has been conferred Most Admired Developer in Water & Urban Infrastructure Sector during the 3rd KPMG Infrastructure Today Awards. JUSCO has over nine decades of experience in providing infrastructure services and is carved out by Tata Steel from its Town Services Division in 2004. The award comes as applause to the mandate for JUSCO to convert an obligatory service into a customer focused sustainable corporate entity. The Award was given away by Shri Kama Nath, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Road and Highways at New Delhi on 01 December 2010.

The Award was received by Mr Manish Sharma, Managing Director, JUSCO along with Mr Raghunath Pandey, President, JUSCO Shramik Union. Speaking while receiving the coveted award, Mr Manish Sharma, Managing Director, JUSCO said that the KPMG Infrastructure Today Awards acknowledges an organization’s landmark achievements in various infrastructure projects. JUSCO is highly obliged to receive the title of Most Admired Developer in Water & Urban Infrastructure Sector. JUSCO will keep on enhancing its services and come up to the best of the standards set by the industry in times to come.
JUSCO’s expertise in executing projects on BOOT, BOT, EPC, O&M, Concession and Franchisee models has led it to create a niche for itself in the growing urban infrastructure services sector in the country. Today it has presence in various cities and towns of the country spanning eight states and serving several urban local bodies and corporations through many landmark projects. In a short span of time JUSCO has emerged as the leader in Indian urban water services sector.
JUSCO has also achieved international recognitions for its efforts in water services sector – Biennial 5th Asia Water Management Excellence Award at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Global Intelligence Award at London, United Kingdom. JUSCO’s operations at Jamshedpur have been conferred with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Award by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) at Kyoto, Japan, the only company in services domain in the world to have conferred this prestigious award. In 2009, JUSCO was conferred with the National Urban Water Award by the Hon’ble President of India for ‘Citizen Services and Governance’.

The selection criteria for the award require various stakeholders to work together and administer the measure of success. The approach is based on a perception survey, moderated by a panel of eminent specialists. Based on the results of the survey, KPMG prepared a profile of the top ranked companies. The information is then presented to the jury members, comprising prominent sectoral specialists who based on their considered opinion; have to nominate the most deserving candidate for each award segment.
The award is also based on demonstration of overall excellence in the conceptualization, development and implementation of the project. The reward seeks to encourage greater private sector participation in the sector, and wider recognition of the achievements in Indian infrastructure across the world.

JUSCO Samachar (vernacular) was conferred “Gold Award” by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) at their 4th Global Meet held on 3 April 2010 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Global Meet together with Annual PRCI 2010 Chanakya Awards, Corporate Collateral Awards and Hall of Fame in PR was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Advisor to Bureau of Parliamentary Studies on Training and Former Union Minister Sri Mani Shankar Aiyer.
Mr Rajesh Rajan, Head Corporate Communications, JUSCO received the Trophy and a Certificate from Mr Bhishma Narain Singh, Former Union Minister and Governor and Mr Joginder Singh, Former Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at the Annual Corporate Collateral Award function at New Delhi. Amongst prominent award recipients present during the function was Ms Barkha Dutt, MD, NDTV, for Media Personality of the Decade and Dr Kiren Bedi, CEO, Navjyoti India Foundation, for the NGO of the Year.
The PRCI Annual Collateral Awards 2010 are the most prestigious event in the realm of Corporate Communications in India. | MUNICIPALIKA AWARD to JUSCO at the 1st International Conference on Solid Waste Management and Municipalika Exhibition at Kolkata |

JUSCO was declared the Winner for "BEST EXHIBITOR of Urban Infrastructure Services" at the 1st International Conference on Solid Waste Management on Nov 6, 2009.
The award was given by Prof Saugata Roy, Hon'ble Minister of State for Urban Development, Govt of India to Mr Rajesh Rajan, Head Corporate Communications JUSCO at the valedictory function.
The Conference on Solid Waste Management and Exhibition on Municipal Services, Urban Development & Public Works is organized by the Centre for Quality Management Systems, Jadavpur University and Good Governance India Foundation.
The renowned companies which participated in the Exhibition are Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Rolta India, Surat Municipal Corporation, Ion Exchange, Sintex, State Urban Development Agency, SPML, Siemens India, Caterpillar and many more.
The Hon’ble Minister of State for Urban Development visited the stall of JUSCO along with other dignitaries and was impressed to discover that the company does not only provide the services in West Bengal but also across the country. He was also pleased to know that JUSCO apart from providing water and waste water services is also offering sustainable solutions in power distribution, MSW and other infrastructure services.
He remarked that JUSCO is a great company.

Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company limited (JUSCO) won the National Urban Water Award (NUWA) in "Citizen Services & Governance category." for the year 2009. Amongst the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Water Utilities/ Boards, Non-governmental organizations, community based organisations, private sector in combination with ULBs/ Water Utilities/ Boards, JUSCO is the only private player to have won the National award for "Consumer Satisfaction - JUSCO Sahyog Kendra and the JUSCO experience". Her Excellency the Hon'ble President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil presented the award to Mr Sanjiv Paul, Managing Director JUSCO and Mr A P Singh, Chief, Billing & Customer Relations, JUSCO at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on August 13, 2009. With more than 90 entries, under various categories for National Urban Water Awards 2009, JUSCO bagged the "Citizen Services and Governance" award and also won accolades for "Technical Innovation".

| JUSCO honoured with "Award for TPM Excellence, Category A 2008" by JIPM |

At the 2008 Total Plant Maintenance Award ceremony, JUSCO was honored with “Award for TPM Excellence, Category A” by the Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) held at Kyota, Japan on March 12, 2009. JUSCO as a civic provider adopted the TPM model in the year 2004 and ever since implemented the measures to improve equipment’s availability time, performance and reduce gaps in process to reduce losses and customer complaints.
The Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), a public corporation under the administration of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan in association with association française des ingénieurs et responsables de maintenance, Confederation of Indian Industry, Corporate Synergy Development Center, Korean Standards Association, SMMT Industry Forum, Technology Promotion Association facilitated JUSCO along with 20 other Indian companies for their excellent performance.
Mr. Sharad Kumar, General Manager, Power Service Division received the award at the ceremony as the representative of JUSCO. Being the only company in the Utilities services domain, JUSCO’s objective in implementing TPM to increase efficiency and operational performance has led to transform its vision into reality.
Nearly 88 companies from all over the world were facilitated with their assessors and member organizations in various other categories. Amongst the winners for “Category A” were some Indian companies such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited, MRF Limited, PepsiCo India Hoardings Private limited, Exide Industries Limited, National Engineering Industries limited and more.
The TPM award is the third international award won by JUSCO within four years of its inception which contributes to its improvement systems and high morale. |

JUSCO won the “HR Excellence Award 2008 – 2009” at a ceremony organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (Eastern Region) on March 10, 2009. This certification was awarded in appreciation to promote excellence in Human Resource Management in the company.
It is indeed an honour for JUSCO to be recognized for its initiatives and make Human Resource (HR) achieve excellence. The only company to be awarded with the award for the year 2008 - 2009 apart from JUSCO, was the Phoenix Group. |

The 5th Asia Water Management Excellence Award has been conferred to JUSCO on 1st April 2008 during the ASIA WATER 08 Expo & Conference at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. JUSCO is the first Indian Water Company to receive this prestigious award.
The Asia Water Management Excellence Awards is awarded once every two years and is widely recognised as Asia’s most prestigious awards for the water and wastewater sector. The 5th Asian Water Management Excellence Award was given out to organisations that has contributed to the development of the water industry in Asia. The award is organised by the ASIAN WATER Magazine and the ASIA WATER 08 Secretariat. Amongst the past winners include PUB Singapore, Penang Water Supply, Malaysia and Manila Water, Phillipines. |

JUSCO has won the FIRST PRIZE for “Excellent Management in the area of RAIN WATER HARVESTING” organised by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board in association with CII Jharkhand supported by Department of Forest & Environment, Government of Jharkhand. The initiative undertaken by JUSCO was projected in a form of a presentation made by Mr B. Prasad Head, Water Distribution & Mr R. Mahadev Manager, WM in a competition held on May 22, 2008 on the theme “Environmental Issues of Jharkhand: Fly Ash Management, Rain Water Harvesting and Green Building Concept” .

NABL Accreditation to Water Laboratory |

The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) granted its certificate for accreditation to the Town Laboratory of the Water Management division of Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company on May 23, 2007, for the chemical tests conducted by it. The accreditation is sensitive as it will allow the laboratory to use the NABL symbol in accordance with NABL-133, for the parameters covered by it.

TBEM Serious Adoption Award |

For an organisation, which began on a quiet note as a bold experiment to privatise public Utilities services, the high decibel level of praise JUSCO has received for business excellence is a trail blazer for even those firmly entrenched in their businesses. JUSCO has leveraged the opportunity of a new start to rapidly set in place Business Excellence Processes under the Tata Business Excellence Model. As a result, the Company has within two years of its birth, received the Group’s “Serious Adoption Award” in business excellence. The honour was bestowed on it by the Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata at the 11th Business Excellence Convention organised by TQMS at Phuket, Thailand on November 24 and 25. This moment was undoubtedly the proudest in the young life of the Company.
Equally thrilling was the commendation, which was read out while the award was being presented. It was announced that despite its relative youth, the Company was running faster than many on the path of excellence. |

CRISIL Excellence in Municipal Initiatives |

JUSCO won the Special CRISIL Award 2004-05 for “Excellence In Municipal Services” instituted jointly by the CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory and the Urban Development Ministry of the Government of India. Over 30 urban bodies had sent in their entries covering over 100 municipal programmes for the award. The winning entries were assessed and selected by a panel of experts.
JUSCO was honoured with the Special Award for “Excellence in achieving improvement in quality of services through corporatisation.” This award honoured the company for the world-class services provided by it to the residents of Jamshedpur in the areas such as water-supply, waste management and other allied services.
“JUSCO perhaps is the only initiative of its kind in the entire country, which shows that urban services should not be treated merely as a responsibility but as a properly managed commercial activity. This initiative can prove to be a landmark in the area of urban development in India and makes JUSCO a suitable candidate for the CRISIL Award,” observed a member of CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory. |

The visit of delegates from Pakistan and Bangladesh at the behest of the World Bank was a singular honour for India’s foremost private sector Utilities services provider. Under the Water and Sanitation programme of the World body, a visit was organised to apprise the delegates of the neighbouring countries of the operations of JUSCO, which the World Bank rates as a well managed service organisation. The delegates visited the Water Management and Public Health & Horticulture Departments of the Company. |
