27 February 2007
Renovation and up gradation of
Public Conveniences
In a function held
on 27 February 2007, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, IAS, SDO, East
Singhbhum, inaugurated the newly renovated Sulabh
Sauchalaya at Handi Line, Bistupur Market. The function
was attended by large no. of shop owners of Bistupur,
Senior Citizens, Sulabh International Executives, etc.
Since its inception,
JUSCO has constantly tried to improve the quality of
life of the citizens of Jamshedpur through creation of
new facilities and at the same time improving the
existing ones. Taking a step forward, JUSCO has decided
to renovate and upgrade all Public Conveniences in the
township. Renovation and up gradation of Public
Conveniences is part of beautification plan of
Jamshedpur which includes widening and strengthening of
roads, signage and road marking for directions and
safety, improving and beautifying central verges and
islands, mechanized maintenance of trees along the
roads, construction of storm water drains, etc
The old, dilapidated
and stinking toilets are now passé. The new look of
Sulabh Sauchalaya's has an attractive appearance and
modern facilities. JUSCO in collaboration with Sulabh
Sauchalaya has drawn up an elaborate plan to renovate
and upgrade all Public Conveniences in Jamshedpur in a
phased manner. In the next four years all Community
Toilets, Public Latrines and Public Urinals will have a
modern look and facilities. Maintenance and cleaning
will be done through mechanized machines like high
pressure jet machine, vacuum cleaner, scrubber, etc
At present, there
are three types of public conveniences i.e. 42 nos. of
Sulabh Sauchalaya, 147 nos. Public Latrines and 80 nos.
of Urinal Points in Jamshedpur. JUSCO has plans to
renovate all these public conveniences in a phased
manner and at the same time add few more where there is
requirement. One such new Sulabh Sauchalaya would be
constructed inside Jubilee Park for visitors. In 2007,
JUSCO has renovated 15 nos. of public latrines and has
plans to renovate another 32 nos. in next year.
Speaking at the
function Chief Guest Mr. Rajesh Sharma lauded the
efforts of JUSCO and Sulabh Sauchalaya for improving the
public conveniences in town. At the same time he said
that constructing new facilities might be easy but
maintaining such facilities for ages is what is
required. He requested all shop owners of Bistupur and
to visitors to use this facility to the maximum and help
towards maintaining and keeping it clean
