In a function held

function was attended by large no. of residents from
Bagan Area, Senior Citizens and Officers from Tata Steel
and JUSCO.
Jamshedpur Utilities
and Service Company Limited (JUSCO) was formed with the
basic motive of not only focusing and improving the
quality of services in Jamshedpur but to also create
infrastructures that would help in eradicating problems
related to public health. Over the last almost three
years JUSCO has tirelessly worked on improving the
quality of life of citizens of Jamshedpur who were
aspiring to get better and similar services that were
being provided to the rest of Jamshedpur by JUSCO.
Stray Dog
sterilization Centre is a step further in providing safe
and healthy environment to the citizens of Jamshedpur.
As per the WHO estimate there are approx. 50 million
stray dogs in India. Jamshedpur has approx. 30,000 stray
dogs and on an average 90-100 dog bite cases are
reported in TMH alone. This figure does not include
cases reported at different nursing homes and Govt.
hospitals. Keeping the promise of providing civic and
municipal services to the citizens of Jamshedpur, JUSCO
created this state of the art infrastructure for dogs in
order to reduce dog menace.
This new stray dog
sterilization centre is equipped with state of the art
Operation Theater, pre and post operative room,
equipment sterilization room and kennel which can house
32 dogs at a time. The centre has plans to sterilize
1000 dogs/bitches in this year and subsequently this
number would be increased in coming years. There are 2
Veterinarians and 2 assistant Veterinarians to handle
this centre where the dogs would be provided with free
food and post operative medical care. All dogs would be
inoculated with Anti Rabies Vaccine before they are
released to their respective areas. To identify the
sterilized dogs, they are provided yellow bands with
serial numbers and their ear tip are cut.
Speaking at the
occasion Mr. Sanjiv Paul, MD, JUSCO, lauded the efforts
of the Public Health department and requested all to
participate in this war against dog menace. Chief Guest
of the function, Dr. N M Kulkarni said that this is yet
another positive step taken by JUSCO to provide better
civic amenities to the citizens of Jamshedpur. He
further said that people should come forward and help
JUSCO to fight against this menace and said that all
possible help would be extended by the Local
Administration to JUSCO in this direction.
